also, does the priest say the same thing for all weddings or is it variable depending on the preferences of the couple?

I, (Bride/Groom), take you (Groom/Bride), to be my (wife/husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.

It depends on your religion and your priest. I would ask him. He will have the standard wording, but it doesnt hurt to ask if you can personalize it a little. There is also a really good book titled "A Wedding Ceremony to Remember: Perfect Words for the Perfect Wedding" by Marfy Younkin. Our minister let us use the suggested wording from the book. There are several ceremony styles in it and lots of great ideas for personalizing your ceremony. I highly recommend checking it out.

Congrats!

Most couples are able to decide what they prefer to say. The minister we worked with let us decide the format and vows especially. Most of the time it starts with a prayer, a short sermon, the exchanging of vows, rings, another prayer, and you're done.

Most include at LEAST one scripture reading.

Our VOW was unique in the way we merged two cultures, and we looked at books filled with vows you can fill in with your names.
