Morals have nothing to do with religion, some one does not need to be of any religion in order to be nice and loyal, or to have good standing morals. I think that it has to do with the respect for our fellow humans. I know lots of atheist who have better sence of morals than those of some of these christians that think they are too holy to compare themselves to any one else.

Morality has nothing to do with theists or atheist but rather what people believe to be right or wrong. Look up "moral pluralism" to pursue this subject further. Islamic belief is that women are the property of men and that both sexes are bound morally to act in this manner. Christian moral belief is that both man and woman have the same rights and no person should own another. An atheist, I’ve never met one but I have met many who claim to KNOW that there is no divine being, may have a moral conviction that follows on or the other of these beliefs.

Hope that this helped.

I'm not an atheist but I would say that yes, most atheists have morals, their's just don't stem from any religious teaching. But our society is base on moral principles, so I would say that that's where they got their moral base from & possibly their parents or maybe one parent was not an atheist. Being an atheist is a choice. There are some people who consider themselves Christian or have some other type of religious affiliation, who don't have any morals. You do know that don't you?

Its pretty amazing how anyone such as Sonia here can admit to being so morally sick that they would claim they have no morals except for what they read in a book. I guess that is what a sick religion does to one. Next I suppose sonia will tell us that without her bible she would go out and rob, steal and kill people. I am glad she likely does not live anywhere near me.

Some people who are atheists do. Though I have to be honest and say that there are several atheists that i know who do not seem particularly moral to me in that they have very cynical views of others, don't treat others well, and go by their own value system, so to speak. though of course you can't generalize, and I think the same is true of people of faith. There are good and bad apples of every creed, nation, and religion or lack thereof.
I disagree with the poster who says that common sense is the same as the Ten Commandments. Before the 10 commandments, there were mainly paganistic societies that did all sorts of awful things such as sacrifice their children to the gods...the 10 commandments were the first codified laws trying to instill a sense of morality/justice in people

Of course they do. What kind of question is this? That would be like me asking, "Do Christians go to the toilet?" I believe morals are built into our genetic code. Civilized humans KNOW instinctively how to behave in a group. We are herd animals, after all. Basically what you're implying with this is all Atheists are criminals, and quite frankly that's the most ignorant thing I've ever heard.

They have stronger morals than most people. They take responsibility for their own actions and do not blame it on some gods will. They don't need some moral code to show them how to act and figure things out on their own.

You don't need any god to have morals. Society determines morals, not any ancient book written by mankind when we believed the earth was flat.

So yes, Atheists have morals. Atheists won't hurt others because it would piss off the others, then the others would want revenge and it would become a vicious cycle.

If you honestly believe that the only place a human being could get a 'moral code' is from some book, it says a LOT about you.

Of course we Atheist have morals. Like no killing no stealing do to other what you want others do to you [and reverse]
A religion is not needed to develop morals. This wrong assumption is often perpetrated by many religious leaders.
Check some Atheist web site and you learn.
