ignore the ignorant statements from some people.

YEAH they can take the license, and YEAH jail and taking it works.

1) if they go to jail, its a sack lift, cheek spread search with three hots and a cot. they stay short periods, until someone (a friend or family of the deadbeat) comes with a stack of cash (which goes to you btw).

if they take the license, its such a MASSIVE headache for them, so they dont do that again.

2) you have to request it. and sometimes push for it.
3) call your caseworker and ask if there is a tax refund intercept on the case. ask for an enforcement hearing if he is not paying.
4) if your caseworker or dept isnt on the ball, its time for a letter

write a letter; in it state your contact info, case number, arrears amount and problem. ask what they are doing about it.

"dear ladies and gentlemen" is good.

now, take that letter and send it to:
the Attorney General of your/his state (both if separate)
the Governors of yours/his states
the Regional FEDERAL Child Support Office (link is below)

5) FAX it. personally, i fax all of my letters. its proof it was sent and recieved. i fax ONLY to the directors of the regional and the AG and G personally. Fax that one letter to all of them. then they HAVE to address the problem.

if the websites dont list the fax numbers (most do) call and get it.

that'll put some heat on the case. just keep at them. its the squeeky wheel that gets the oil, remember that.

In New Jersey your license can be temporarily suspended... and if you drive you can do jail time.. Pay your support, not because of what the State can do to you, but because that is your child.

God, that's such a stupid law...OK, dude isn't paying his child support, All right then, let's find a way to keep him from not paying by suspending his license so he can't go to work anymore. Or yeah, better yet put him in jail on the city and state's dime.

Yeah, that'll work.

Not when they are sitting in jail for non-payment.
