This is an ultrasound of your abdomen in order to view your kidneys, ureters, & bladder.

I do not think you need to do anything special prior to the test.

KUB is kidneys, ureters and bladder. Basically it is your abdomen from the curve of your ribs to your pubic bone. If the doctor is looking at the abdomen, no injection. If the doctor wants to see how well your kidneys work, you will need to fast (not eat) the night before. They will start an IV and inject a material (contrast) that will make the kidneys show up. They will take several pictures and then send you home. This is called an IVP.

It is just a plain x-ray of your abdomen. KUB stands for kidneys, ureters and bladder. Another name is flat abdomen. Nothing is put in the body.
