I work with this guy and he's really nice, but he likes me a lot. I think he's great as a friend, so I don't want to hurt him but I really need him to stop liking me!! Is there anything I can do to let him down gently?

I think he's gonna be hurt no matter how it plays out but you want to soften the blow, right? Well, you just need to be honest with him - maybe so as to not bruise his ego so much, let him know his good qualities and that there is someone else out there for him.

Have the same problem except the guy who likes me is pretty creepy. If I were in your situation, however, where I don't want to hurt a nice guy, I would just ignore him when he's flirting, still be friendly, but keep that distance and he'll eventually get the point. If he's mature (and thus, worth keeping as a friend) he'll understand, probably be disappointed at first, but move on and not jeopardize the friendship. Good luck!

no, no gently be abrupt! The whole I like you as a friend thing in a gentle manner sucks big time! A clear I don't think of you that way and if you can't handle us being friends then we need to stop talking..is more in line, it wakes guys up.

By not helping him, any attention he gets could be mistaken as " she really likes me ". Im not saying be rude but keep it brief for enough time for him to get over it on his own. There is no gentle way, we all know how much it hurts when we learn the object of our affection doesnt feel the same

Don't even think of it, any effort will mean that you think about him in some way and that is enough reason for him to persevere. So if you want out, just tell him once and stick to your words. He'll eventually get to understand that there is no going back. Without you trying to help him... get it.

That comes across as a conceited question- just being honest. I was going to give you advice but its just too much of a turn off. Get over yourself is probably the best advice
