I think a cruise is always a good choice. There are so many activities and interesting people to meet and places to see. I could see myself cruising alone. In fact, now that I think about it what a relaxing week that could be!

There are some archeological digs that often let people join. I went to a spa for a week and hung out at beaches. Most volunteering trips usually want longer (month or more) since it's a big investment of time for them to train you in how they want to do something. But I've known people to fly to places like Calcutta to volunteer for a week at Mt. Theresa's orphanage. You might try Habitat for Humanity programmes since they often have overseas trips to rebuild.
