Good Question: Somebody correct me if I am wrong...
F-150 is rated at a half ton hauling capacity.
F-250 is 3/4 ton hauling capacity.
F-350 is a full ton
Then you get into super duty trucks.
I think this is still the same, but I have been told that smaller trucks like Ranger are 1/4 ton but it wouldn't market very well as that.

Beefier springs, frame supports, possible engine tranny upgrades to be used as a working truck. The higher the number, F-150, F250, F350 the more "work" the truck is capable of etc.... Now why wouldn't everyone want a F-350? ride quality, gas $,

Payload, 150 is 1/2 tonne and 350 is 1 tonne. 350 is better if you plan on hauling something heavy or for a work truck.
