Also what do people think about crate training, we have never done it with our dogs in the past but my mum says she would like this dog to be crate trained

Pugs are good little dogs, but they do snore and shed a lot. They can be challenging to potty train, so crate training is a must. Pugs are prone to quite a few heath problems, so you may get to know your vet very well.

Crate training is fantastic - I'm crate training my border collie puppy, and it's helping with the toilet training.

Also, the crate is a good little haven for them to take a time out in if they want to. Make sure to have the crate covered by a sheet or blanket - this will make them think of it as a "den" and makes them more comfortable.

Be prepared to vacuum everyday. My pug sheds about a ton of hair a day. They are stinky dogs. Very Active. Oh...and very sneaky. They need a lot of attention. Don't make the mistake of spoiling him too much. That was my first mistake. It's tough not to spoil him but well worth it. Good Luck and be prepared!

I don't crate train, but at that point you do sign up for a lot of training to make the dog well-behaved.

The best thing you can do is to watch "Dog Whisperer" which has, from time to time, episodes on introducing a new dog.

We just put one of our pugs down today Pugsley... he was old and ready though still sad, he always slept with me and would snore and hog the bed.. I LOVED it!!! You should wipe its face often and keep the face wrinkles clean, they are good dogs and good companions too. Good luck I hope you enjoy each other!!
