Dealing with friends when in a relationship?

Question

I was talking to a guy friend about jealously when it comes to relationships.

He said "You mean to tell me that you would let a boyfriend hang out with a 'just friend' who was a girl?"
I said "Sure."
He said "How? I mean...you put two people together, feelings are going to occur."
I said "Not always. I mean, I'd like to meet this girl. But...if he is with me - and I have met her...sure he can hang or at least talk to her on the phone."
He said "I don't see how that is possible."
I said "I guess I just put my trust in the person to not hurt me."

So, question - would you let your boy/girlfriend hang out with someone of the opposite sex if you knew they were friends before you came along and you had met her/him before?

Sure, because can't nobody bring it how I do, so what do I have to feel threatened about? Besides, I got guy friends too!!

If they have an established friendship before you came along, then why not. Afterall, why would he be looking to get involved with someone if he were hung up on one of his friends. That said, it may be helpful to take mental notes of the things that he says about them to clue yourself into what kind of relationship they have. Meeting them would be great too and chances are if her is ready and willing to introduce the two of you, you have nothing to worry about. If you are worried about it, however, maybe ask him a few questions about their friendship, such as, how long they have known each other, if they were ever attracted to one another or tried dating, what does he value about the relationship. Best not to forbid such a thing but getting in the know if healthy for you. Good for you that you are able to trust. Shows that you are quite trustworthy yourself.

i think it depends on the situation. i personally am having trouble with my guy friend right now, because his girlfriend forbid me to talk to him, text him and not to c him. it really sucks and i just want to find some kind of resolution because this has been going on for more than a month a half now. personally in my situation i think there is no trust between the two of them and that is y she is jealous of me..if i had a awesom boyfriend like him i would definatly trust him, especially since he does so much to provide for her and their daughter.

You my dear are a person that gives someone the rope to hang themselves...if that's what they are going to do!!!
When the right person comes along and values the fact that you can trust, you will have one great relationship!
I have found it much easier on myself to trust my woman unconditionally! If she is going to mess around...I will eventually find out!

I would not let my boyfriend talk to any girls because i let ma x do that and he actually broke up wit me to be with her therefore your friend is right. itz just not jealously its just a true fact.

yea i would let my bf hang wit a girl thats a girl especially if she was in his life befo i got in his life i would ask him if i can meet her and all dat and if u meet ther thats even better but u cant tell him he cant chill with his friend thats too overprotective ...u have to trust him and dats one part in being in a relationship u have to have TRUST!!!so yea i would let my bf hang wit her

well depending on how close they are and how they became so tight close, yes i would and i would have had to meet her to see how they act around each other
