I work at Wal-Mart and I will talk to one of our electronics associates and get back to you with what he says about it.
Ok, I called him and he said that the Akai merchandise isn't worth the money.
Sorry, I know how you feel, you want something at a reasonable price that will last, but if I were you, I would look at a better brand name. I have been looking at the Sanyo because they tell me that they are one of the best.

Akai is junk, just about all walmart electronics are junk.
Akai=Junk
Samsung=Junk
Guess what Samsung makes AKAI! lol

I wouldn't get one. You should go with a name brand on expensive items like this -- there is a reason why they got popular, and its good quality.
