To see if you think you'd like your hair black, I'd try a black wig that is about the same length and body of your natural hair and see what you think. It won't be 100% but at least it'll give you an idea if you like it.

I'm more impulsive and figure if I don't like it, I can probably live with it. I've died my hair black a few times with permanent dye. Currently it's a shade of burgundy but that's after letting the last black dye job fall out over the course of many many months. I learnt the hard way that once you die it black you can't back out of it easily. The first time I dyed it the dye didn't come out . It was black and I decided I wanted to change it back to brown. Thinking that the dye was just like working with black hair, I tried using a light dye that stated it would turn black hair light. Instead I wound up with an orange fading to red sunburst from my roots to the ends and I had to have my hair professionally stripped. While having it stripped the hair stylist said that with dark dyes such as black, the dye inserts itself into the hair, permanently changes the color of your hair and fills the hair with dye and that's why it has to be stripped. I'm not sure if that's accurate (I don't know much about cosmetology other than personal experience) but that's what she said.

Color pulse is meant to be used on hair that is already about as light or dark as the color they are using, and if you try to use a color that is out of your range it will not give good results. There are other types of demi-permanent colors, but you have to remember they may not come out as soon as they say they will, or sometimes not at all. There are a lot of colored hair gels that will wash right out as soon as you wash your hair, you can try one of those and see how it looks.

If your hair is lighter than medium brown or auburn and you color it black at home, it will fade out and you'll soon notice greenish or grey tones. If darker, you'll start to notice more of a red cast in the sun. If you decide you don't like it, over-the-counter color removers will be able to take out a lot of it, but not all, and the damage they cause can be unpredictable and possibly severe, and you'll be left with a lot of reddish or orange tones. The only other alternative would be bleach, and that will only get you to a nice orange or maybe yellow if you're lucky, and you'll have to color over it.

If you insist on doing it yourself, and you're sure you want black hair and don't think you'll want to change it any time soon, here's what you should do:

If your hair is blonde or light brown, color it a dark reddish brown first, wait a week or two, then color it black. You may need to color it again eventually when it fades.

If your hair is medium or dark brown, color it black, and you may need to color it later when it fades.

BUT the best thing you can do is go to a salon and have them do it. Most salons offer demi-permanent and semi-permanent colors you can try, the school I go to uses Paul Mitchell's P.M. Shines, it doesn't damage the hair and it gives a pretty good color that can be easily removed.

My hair is a golden brown colour and I dyed my hair blue black a few years ago, and I hated it. I tried to dye it back with permanent hair colour but there was no changing it back. So I really didn't want to strip my hair, so I buzzed it. It was 3/4 of and inch long when I was finished, but the black was gone amd my hair grew back healthy so...That is all I can tell ya

Semi permament shades are strong to apply like loopy coloration and instructions, this variety of dye isn't negative you may placed it on as a lot as you want. It would not contrain any peroxid. If ur hair is allready damaged i might want to sugest utilizing a conditionin treatment, which contain nioxen this can fix ur hair.

The only way to remove hair colour is by bleaching it out. But, you could ease into it by using a colour conditioner. Go to a beauty supply store and buy a black colour conditioner. ArTec makes a good one. The colour conditioners are conditioners that put colour into your hair. They rinse out over time. Start with that, and if you like it, go for the permanent!

I had red hair and then I changed it to black. Once you change your hair color to black, that is it. You will not be able to change it back to any lighter color, unless you bleach it, which is severe and damaging to your hair. I am quite happy with my black hair. I think I should have done that earlier. My suggestion to you is to try a black wig and see how it goes with your face.

Dont dye it black. That will make it look flat and fake. Go with a Dark brown. This will add dimension and highlight when sun hits it still being a very very dark shade. And with this you could always go lighter but with black your kinda stuck

there is really no going back if you use permanent black hair color, there is no reason that semi perm should not work in your hair especially black, go to a salon that uses redken shades 01B onyx, it will cover anything and is semi perm, if you don't like it you can change it because it is non damaging
