The world is a complex and dangerous place. We each know that someday we will die. These two elements tend to cause stress. Having a method to deal with the stress is beneficial to our survival, both as individuals and as a species. The capacity to invent myths and religions helps to relieve the stress.
We are hard-wired to believe in something. Believing is necessary if we are to act on any of the situations we encounter.
Even what we believe is science we only know subjectively, as the product of an electro-chemical event in our brains and yet we believe that science makes the world a more predictable, and therefore safer place.
We are absolutely certain of nothing. We do not verify every piece of information that comes our way. We couldn't possibly do that, so we take a great deal on faith. Even if we regard ourselves as operating on pure logic, we have to believe, without certainty, a great deal.
Should we not treat each other as kindly as we can in the complex and baffling world?

We must make a point here: Belief is something which is very important for some people and some people really believe in it. Some people just believe in it for convenience or other reasons.
It is supposed to be that any religion works to make a better life and above anything be tolerant towards your neighbour, friend or family. Now religions are always wrong in a way or many of the leaders confuse people by telling them to do things which they are not supposed to do, it happens everywhere. For instance the Catholic Church: I don't think Jesus would be very happy if He was on earth and saw that a Church which follows Him has got the most expensive building on earth. Jesus never said anything about worshipping a pope like mad. According to what the Bible says God doesn't accept people to worship saints and whatsoever...so there ya go...religions are always wrong in many points and what people do doesn't mean that it is what the god of respective religions told them to do.

I would say that these people live with a hope, and why take away a person's right to hope in something? If you take out all the hope in the world then maybe it would produce a society of hopelessness causing mass suicides. And then another lucrative practice of amassing wealth by disposing of the dead bodies would arise out of that.
Why don't we all just follow Hitler's dream, as you seem to be suggesting? Just extinguish all of the people that don't fit into your perfect plan of how the world should be.

Nobody knows what happens after death...but it doesnt mean that religion has to be completely shut down because it doesnt make sense, thats why there is faith! When nothing seems logical your faith will guide you!!

Nobody knows, they don't know if theres a god or anything else. You could die and become a ghost or something like that. And if you open a bible it says made who ever.

religion works on human fear, you are afraid to upset god, so you follow the rules, if you don't then you go to a nasty place. You listen to those threats for long enough... you hedge your bets.
