Yes! It is the best thing I have ever done. I love being able to see when I wake up in the morning. Get a reputable doctor though and DON'T get the "newer" process where they use a new laser to release the seal form the cornea. Get the one that has been out for a while - as it turns out the "older" technology is better and it is also cheaper. If you are severly near sighted as I was there really is not much to lose - you are already "blind". You will be able to see the next day but may have to wear goggles when you go to sleep for a few days (to keep from rubbing or damaging the healing process) - the cost ranges from about 600 - 1300 per eye.
PS: sometimes you hear that your eyes "go back" to where they were which is complete BS unless you are on a natural downhill spiral anyway. My eyes are perfect 20/20 and have been for 6 years now. I had a negative 9.5 + an astigatism - I really couldn't see at all. It was like a miracle for me.
ALSO, if you have flex benefits at work you can usually apply the cost of laser to this. I did so I paid for it with tax free dollars which is like getting a 30% discount.

I got it but I forgot the exact name they gave it, because they'll vary depending on your problem. To me it was so worth it, the only thing I notice is that at night lights shoot out rays, so it's not the best to drive with, only if you are in a very well lit city. I got it at half price in 2000 for 1,000 dollars. I researched the dr. and the facility first- it was an awesome place in Pasadena, CA. I went through several appointments. Turns out my cornea was too thin for them to do the typical surgery so what they did, this will sound real creepy, is instead of just lifting the top layer of the cornea they removed it. Then they do the laser. It was so fast they did both I'd say 5 min. They bandaged my eyes and that layer would regenerate, I believe in less than a week. But I was seeing, I can't remember exactly, the next day. It doesn't hurt when they do it but an hour after my eyes were burning and watering real bad and that hurt alot. But it didn't last long, I think like an hour or so. In the beginning at night some things were blurry but it went away. They don't guarantee it and they gave me pages and pages about what could go wrong, from blindness to death! I'm guessing it's very rare but they have to cover themselves. I was scared to do it but I did it. I love it so much, I don't think about it, once in a while I'll remember I couldn't see before and the hassle of glasses. I've got 20/20. They said that after 40 they don't guarantee that you're going to see as perfectly, but I think this is due to age and can happen to anyone. Someone said to you they put you to sleep, that's not true. A few minutes before the surgery they give you eyedrops to anesthesize that area.

I LOVE IT!
I will have to have a "touch-up", but I am extremely pleased, even if they could never improve me from where I am now, I'd be happy.
I started out around 20/400 with a severe astigmatism in both eyes - now, I'm 20/70 and 20/80 with no astigmatism. I can't drive without my contacts, but I *can* do just about everything else.
I had it done in Alaska, where there's only one place that does it - I paid a total of $3,000 and it was SO worth it. Be sure not to bargain hunt - you want the best doctor available, not the cheapest!!
Good luck!

Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

My mom had it done for about $2000 and she can see perfectly now. It won't hurt while they're doing it because they'll put numbing drops in your eyes but for a few weeks they'll feel sore and itchy, like you have sand in your eyes that you can't get out.
