This is VERY sad! I was a HUGE fan of Barbaro! I actually thought he was gonna pull though with his huge heart and courage but i was wrong. I know this sounds "kidish" but i cried today! Rest In Peace... Barbaro. <3

I live in the Great State of Kentucky, when the Derby comes around you spend 5 months trying to figure out which horse your gonna bet on when the day comes. You read everything you can about these horses, and soon enough you feel like you know these animals personally. Barbaro was no different than your favorite athlete. So yeah it is sad that he was laid to rest.
*RIP BARBARO*

Hi..

I think it is sad..when any animal is put to sleep..Barbaro had so much potential....It is sad....But we have to remember that he is out of pain. It must be hard for his family...the vet was emotional when he was talking to the press...it really hits home! At least he is in a better place now!

It is extremely sad. He faught so hard that many of us thought he would have been able to pull through this and live out the rest of his life breeding mares and being a happy stallion.

I am not sure how much of a chance they gave him after his most recent setback. I wish they had given him a few days to recover from the surgery and the abscess. I dunno...I wish I knew more about it.

I had a horse with laminitis in all 4 hooves. A severe case at that. She was able to pull through. She had her bad days, but she also had more good days. She went on to recover fully.

He was a great horse, and will be missed.

I stay in the super State of Kentucky, whilst the Derby comes around you spend 5 months attempting to verify which horse your gonna wager on whilst the day comes. You study each and each element you are able to approximately those horses, and promptly sufficient you adventure such as you be conscious of those animals in my opinion. Barbaro grew to alter into into no different than your properly prevalent athlete. So yeah it incredibly is gloomy that he grew to alter into into laid to loosen up. *RIP BARBARO*

Its sad because we heard so much positive news for months. The thing I think makes it more depressing is that he fought hard for eight months and all the set backs came. My first reaction was oh my god they put him down? why? AS I read I found that the laminitis he had in his hind led had spread to him both his front legs. That left him without a good leg to stand on. They also said that his eyes we're once bright and full of life seemed darker and it was obvious he was in distress. Though it is sad to think he's gone a better way to look at it is that he's not suffering anymore. I remember when he first broke down and they had pictures of him in the pasture he would be running around. It's better to think of it as he isn't not suffering anymore.

Yes it is sad but i do belive it was the right choice for the owners to make. He had been put through enough and did not deserve to go through anymore. He was suffering and no one and no animal should have to suffer.

It's very sad because for awhile he did so well and it looked like he was going to make it. But it sounds like there was nothing else to do so it was for the best and he won't suffer. But yes, so sad. He was such a special horse.
