First you should probably ask her if you could show her how responsible you can be, and then research on how to take care of cats better ex. look up cures and treatments on diseases and stuff like that

I can imagine being young and under he rules of your parents, which is the way it should be, but what would happen if something happened to another cat and medical costs involved. What happens if your parents cant afford it again? I dont know how old you are, or if you are old enough to get a job, but if you are maybe you could tell your parents you will pay for a animal health plan or to put money in a savings in the event a medical issue pops up or for future check ups. Personally, i think children even teens are to young to have the complete responsibility for a animal. You said you loved her like she was your child? well, a parent will look after and clean up after a child no matter the mess, blood, poop, pee, vomit. There is no excuse for you not to have continued with her care when she needed you most, that is what i mean by not being old enough to handle all the responsibilities good AND bad. This is a living breathing heart beating, pain feeling precious life we are talking about here. If your parents cannot afford to give health care or are not willing to spend the money then you shouldn't have an animal. I am an adult with two jobs so i have more control over what i do and dont do, but i know i would sell a kidney, mortgage the house or whatever to save my animals if it was in their best interests. Maybe you should wait until you can bring in the money to pay for the animals up keep and you are more emotionally mature to handle such a life long(the animals life) commitment. Animals feel fear and pain and loss and for an animal to live an uncertain life never knowing if they will get sick and be put down because of lack of funds or given away or not fed or cleaned up after. They RELY ON US TOTALLY, they are not toys. Cats can live up to 18-20 years in some cases longer! are you ready for this kind of commitment?

Ok, this is sneaky, but I still use it, so I know personally it works (and I am WAY older than you). Find a free cat (neighbor, friend, etc) one that you really like. Have it "show" up at the door step. The you Ooohh and Aaaww and slip some feed out and pet it. You can hug and cry on its shoulder talking to it telling it how bad you felt about your other cat, but you were so scared (just explain your feelings. MAKE SURE MOMMY IS CLOSE BY TO HEAR).
Once you feed the kitten it should stay. Go out a little later and take it a bowl of food and water, pet and love some more, cry some more. Been working for me for 30+ years, lol.
Don't forget with tearful eyes.."I always took care of the other cat. I am sorry when things got tough I got scared mom, but I feel lost with out my bed buddy. I am ready to move on and to work harder on my responsibility."

If you are really serious and ready for the responsibility because you should know that having a pet is for life, maybe you can slowly convince your mom that you will be committed to take care of the new cat by doing more research on how to take good care of a pet like reading up on pet care from books or online. As they say Knowledge is Power so you go girl..

Well part of having an animal is responsibility. I can understand that watching a pet die is hard but I also understand that your mom doesn't want that to happen again. alternative solution? Maybe you can adopt a cat cheap and arrange for a friend to take it when you go to college.

I really think that you should wait, as it seems that financially you are not able to take care of a cat. The other one needed medical attention and it was too expensive for you to take care of. You need to stop and think if you are able to give it the medical help it would deserve if it should need it (shots, altering, and all the other things that may come up)

1st you need to sit down and figure out if you are really ready for another cat? This is an animal, his or her life! You will be responsible for this pet. It will be up to you to teach it to use the litter box, for you to keep the litter box clean. It will be up to you to brush the kitten and by doing this it will teach it to be done as a full grown cat. You will decide this kittens life, by you getting a kitten now how you raise him/her and how this kitten will be in 5 years I have had my cat for 9 years and he is my baby, He has certain meows for certain things. Cats need alot of attention. They are not just there to be cute and be pet once in awhile they need to be played with, they need attention, they need to trust you and for you to trust in them! It's work having a pet, not just for cuteness and fun but for the love and the enjoyment. To be responsible of a kitten raising it into a cat. You need to understand and be willing to learn about the animal you are raising.

I have the same problem right now but i want a dog and my dad says its cool but my old dog died and my mom does not want to go through that again so just start looking on line and printing ads out about free cats and if she sees you really want one maybe just maybe she`ll get you one. Good Luck !!!!! = )

First, you suggested "I actually have a job plus im babysitting alot". So, you pass to college 5 days a week, have a job, and babysit "lots". while do you intend to spend time with a clean dogs? you besides mght suggested your mom like the dogs you picked out. it incredibly is a initiate, through fact she is the only which will do a super form of the education (for the reason which you at the instant are not living house lots). merely come authentic out and ASK her what situations she might placed on your getting that domestic dog. Then verify you do not enable her down.

You of all people should'nt own another cat! You didn't take care of the other one you had. You sound like you're really irresposible. Your mother is smart to not go that route again. Grow up! What's the point in owning a pet if you're not gonna take care of it. If your cat is bleeding to take it to the vet genious!!!! Do all the cats out there a favor & don't adopt one of them!
