There has been lots of adverts recently for new products - why not ask your pharmacist for advice?
I recently saw a herbal remedy that suggested lemon balm helps coldsores because it has antiviral properties.
I've some growing in the garden & used it on the last coldsore that I had. I wasn't too sure what to do with it so chewed it & sort of rubbed the paste over my coldsore with my tongue. The coldsore did not go to the crusty stage. So I'm going to try it again on my next one.
I must try & find out how you're meant to apply it ... presumably a tea?

Have tried them all from zovirax to the new patches. The best thing is distilled witch hazel from the chemist for about a quid!!!!!!!!!! Have got loads of people converted to using this now as it is excellent. just put a little on cotton wool or a cotton bud & dab on the coldsore several times a day. Hope this helps

Go to your local health food store and buy a course of 'LYCINE C'. This will stop the herpes virus in its tracks and you will soon be cold sore free. take the tablets for approximately 1 to 3 months and you will be free from the virus for a couple of years at least. If and when they return,,,,go on a course of lycine again!
When you feel a cold sore coming on try mixing some coffee with your saliva and dabbing it on the affected spot every 20 minutes if possible. It stops the cold sore from developing.
Another tip is to hold an ice cube on the affected area and it stops the cold sore from forming.
Finally dab with either after shave or perfume as this drys up the cold sore!
All of the above remedies work as I have tried them all over the years...but the lycine is marvellous!

theres a new thing out that is like a little sticky patch. The girl in the chemist said you cant see them once they are on and you can apply make-up etc. Supposed to sto the scab forming.
One pack one coldsore but about £6 a pack.

I don't suffer from cold-sores any more, but in an emergency (they usually appeared before an important date) I used to sit with an ice-cube within a t-towel held against the cold-sore which would freeze it and stop it from spreading and the cold-sore would disappear within 24 -48 hours.

Try Abreva, you can buy it at any pharmacy. It's the most effective medication for cold sores, although you have to apply it 5 times a day.

You can buy Abreva for cold sores and it takes them away in about 3days. You can get it at any drug store over the counter.
