It may be, depending on how seriously they appear to be hurt: how much they are bleeding; whether the nail is still embedded; whether they can bear any weight on the affected foot; how much pain they are in. In any event, they need to see a doctor right away or go to the emergency room. They may need xrays and a tetanus shot. The wound should be thoroughly cleaned, and they may need an antibiotic to prevent infection. So if that is your only way to get them to a doctor or hospital right away, then call 911.

Not necessary unless they are bleeding profusely and you think that their health is in immediate danger. You should promptly, (like right away) get them to emergency and have them get a tetanus shot.

Any puncture wound, especially one that is deep, can be infected with tetanus.

Explanation here. read the first paragraph and you'll get the idea:

DO THEY HAVE ANY CHRONIC CONDITIONS?
If this applies, I would consider an ambulance.

That happened to my dad. Take them in to a clinic and make sure they get a tetanus shot.

You should get one every 10 years. Clean out the wound. If they have had a tetanus shot they should be ok...but most seniors likely haven't had one in decades.

If they can't walk to the vehicle or you can't carry them, you may need to get an ambulance to take them to the emergency room or their doctor's office. If the doctor's office is open, just call them to see what they think you should do. That's what they are there for! While it's not a terrible emergency, it does need to be treated soon. Good luck!
