only for ice fishing. bc fish are coldblooded, they tend to be slower and more lethargic, so if u just want to fish the regular way, i would recommend late march early april

January is THE time for pre-spawn largemouth in the South. Good time to catch a 10+lb bass. Fish main lake channels with trees in 25-30 ft depth with carolina rigged centipede (french fry) or lizards. If bait fishing use waterdogs about 8" long on a 4/0 hook. Dress warm and don't expect lots of bites, but you may well catch a true lunker.

The fish will be slow and lethargic. They don't want to spend alot of energy zooming around on the hunt. So in any type of fishing, its best to either drop the bait right in front of them or use a bait with a strong scent. In the first scenario, you will have to be able to figure out where in the body of water, the fish prefer to just veg - be it near structure, in deep holes, or near other small baitfish. Next, your lure shouldn't be zipping around quickly and full of frentic motion. Instead it should be moving around slowly. The key this time of the year is patience. Of course, its best to target fish that are in the area during the winter and not the migratory fish that you may have caught in the summer or fall.

Really good, for ice fishing! It's been cold enough pretty much everywhere this month to get some good thick ice on most bodies of water, so there should be good ice fishing opportunities all over. Not counting the southern states where it never freezes...

Ice fishing is the best. The fish are really hungry too. If you have a powder suit to keep you warm all the better. I try to go on a hazy day so there is not shadow cast or very little. Go as low as you can with your sinker and you will have a mighty good dinner and very fast too.

Ice fishing. Also if you live in CAL try catfishing in bay area. Fish with no sinker or bobber. Just cast out with a frozen chovie.

Yes, and keep in mind, the worst day fishing is better than the best day working.

SURE MAKE SURE THE ICE IS THICK ENOUGH IF ITS ICE FISHING AND STAY WARM FISH THROUGH A NOON HOUR 9 AM TO 1 OR 2 PM. IF YOU USE WORMS SCOUR THEM BY FEEDING THEM SWEET MILK IN SPHAGNUM MORSE TILL THEY ARE NEARLY TRANSPARENT OR TRANSPARENT AND YOULL INCREASE YOUR LUCK BY 5 TIMES OR MORE. FOR FAR OUT CASTING PARTIALLY FILL A CLEAR BUBBLE WITH WATER FOR WEIGHT AND ITLL CAST WAY WAY AWAY. AND PARTIALLY SUBMERGE KEEPING YOUR BAIT OR PLUG DOWN.
