Actually, any combination will have their own problems. Having 2 or more cats itself will lead to some trouble such as attention, territory, etc. I would definitely get this new kitten from a shelter, especially if they have a kill policy. This way you save a life, have a new family member, and feel good you have taken in an abandoned/abused kitten.
Males are more prone to fighting and marking territory...no matter what sex you get it is very important to neuter.
A female and male would lead to some....reproductive problems..even if they are both neutered. A male will still mount a female to show dominance.

When I had 3 cats before I had the oldest one put down, the two females got along better than the male did with the older female. However, the male was- and is- very attached to his sister.
If you get a kitten, gender probably won't make a difference. If you're looking at an older cat, your best bet is probably to get a female.
Good luck!

I have a male cat and a female cat and they get along great. I don't think it matters which combination of cats you choose to have, just keep in mind that when you do bring in a kitten there will be a period of adjustment for both of the animals. It may not seem like they get along at first but just give it some time and they will get used to each other.

Well usually male cats are nicer. You must make sure if you get a Male and a Female that your new cat is spayed or Neutered or else they will have kittens. It really depends on the cat's breed and personality to tell which gets along better.

you be conscious of.. i substitute into continually informed, my vets and shelters that in case you have 2 cats it incredibly is ultimate to have 2 adult males, and in case you in basic terms have one a girl is super. generally the girls are very Territorial and decide to be an in basic terms cat, so they are going to combat off different cats, whilst adult males are greater probable to settle for yet another male. Now I do have faith this in basic terms applies in the event that they're all fixed. i be conscious of that once I observed my lady cat, had a male already, they did not' get alongside, took forever for the two considered one of them to love one yet another. Now I observed yet another male and the two adult males love one yet another, however the female hates the recent male and wont pass close to the older male.

I wouldn't plan on breeding your cats. You might go down to the SPCA or cat rescues and pick out a kitten. There are so many that need homes.

It doesn't really matter with cats as they are not pack animals fighting for domination. Just introduce them very slowly and expect some stress changes from your adult cat. keep him/her know that you still love em and make sure you desex the both of them that will defiantly help
Good luck

It never mattered with my cats -- just depended on their temperments. Very hyper cats tend to 'fight' whether it is play or real. You might want to try and match temperments, not worry too much about the sexes. Good Luck and enjoy your new baby!

You should not have a 2 year old female. Your cat should have been spayed.
