It depends what you mean by "conforming to our society". All societies have so many different strands. Of course, if someone is intent on behaving illegally, that is a different matter, and needs to be dealt with by the legal process - but that applies the same to natives and newcomers.

In a democracy, it isn't a crime to simply not conform, to not be the same as everyone else. As soon as it is made a crime, I'll be in trouble, I'll be off seeking asylum somewhere more civilised!

It seems a lot of the answerer's don't like the word 'conform' but I think what you mean is to integrate and 'when in Rome.....' .

We all know that there are growing communities of some immigrants who do not make any attempt to live as the locals do - it is not an issue of racism, it is an issue that when you visit or live in other countries other than your indiginous home country that you pay a certain amount of respect to the cultural values and norms and you adopt some of those. For instance you learn the language and the culture as this will only benefit you in the long term (or you can sit and whinge that you hate the culture because you don't know it and don't speak a word of English and expect translaters to be paid for out of the public purse forever because there is never an intention to learn English) if you are provided with dustbins you place your rubbish in them, if your neighbours go to work you do not hold parties until 6am in the morning with blaring music and your extended family shouting and screaming - it is common sense to most people.

However when you have individuals coming from third world countries then they don't always realise how disruptive their culture can be to others, and some just don't care. But nobody has ever policed these issues and some immigrant communities show no respect because they actually think nobody cares - and they could be right with the way the situation is not policed. And it is us that suffer - and the growing anger is due to this lack of respect for our culture and traditions and our lifestyles.

I think it would be strong to deport people for not learning English for example - though I do think the first/second time they commit a serious crime, or they are found to be criminals they should be deported immediately. The real answer is for the government to make sure that they can contribute something positive before letting them in (unless they are really in danger), and that they are learning the language - we should follow Australia's example.

1. All illegal aliens should be deported. No amnesty for those here, no matter how long they have hidden from la migra successfully.
2. Prosecute all employers knowingly hiring illegal immigrants. Aggressively pursue illegal workers. There are those that work under the table, work with false IDs, stolen Social Security #s, etc. These have to be traced back to the employer.
3. Stop all federal, state, and city government money being spent on illegal aliens for any reason unless someone shows up in an emergency room for a life threatening injuries. They are not citizens and they are not here legally. Our citizens and LEGAL resident and non-resident aliens are of a greater priority.
4. Secure our borders by whatever means necessary. (in the process this will greatly reduce drug smuggling, criminals having free access in and out of our country, AND prevents illegal aliens from entering the U.S.)
If these problems are fixed that will fix 99% of our "immigration" problem. All legal immigrants should learn English so they can assimilate into our society where 85% of the population speaks English. We have no legal immigration problem. We have an illegal alien problem that if not resolved, will destroy our country as we know it.
The U.S. already accepts more legal immigrants than ALL OTHER COUNTRIES combined.

No. The reason why is society is so diverse anyway that on what charges would they be arrested on? Not speaking English at home? Calling family abroad? This is unenforcable.
Not just that, there are thousands of Brits who don't conform to society in one way or another. What do you plan to do about that?
If we all in this country ate the same food at the same time, watched the same TV shows and read the same books this country would become very dull. Conformation is dull.

No! Nothing in the Constitution says that immigrants have to conform to our society, except perhaps in the observance of laws. Indeed, citizens here should make an attempt to understand and appreciate peoples from other parts of the world and from other cultures. After all, in the final analysis, we are all come from immigrants here in America, unless of native Indian descent.

If they decide that Britain is best and that's why they are here then they should embrace Britishness, if when here they want to wear their masks and demand that mosques be built and demand for muslim laws to be incorporated they should be politely asked to leave or be deported. If they want to live in an Islamic state they should live in Iran or Saudi Arabia where one already exists. Like it or not we are still a non Islamic state and if you wish it to be otherwise you're out of luck.

By conforming to our society I take it you mean not speaking or understanding English and not accepting the British way of life and traditions.
Taking advantage of our hospitality by committing a crime then yes without a doubt and all assets be forfeited, but unfortunately this will never happen.

Yes and it is not racist to suggest so.

The vast majority of immigrants in this country contribute to the workforce and fabric of our cities, nation and culture and should be welcomed. However those clowns in Finsbury Park should be deported back to Yemen or Saudi Arabia. You don't have to impose Sharia law here. It's ready made somewhere else.

What? Chinese people who don't want to eat fish and chips? Poles who don't like cricket? Indians who won't drink warm beer?

Unlike you, I don't want to live in a sterile monoculture - I like the diversity that immigrants bring to our great nation. Some of that diversity is because they don't conform to all the relics of empire that some Little Englanders seem to want to cling to.

Why only immigrants? Why not just get everybody who doesn't think like you do, who doesn't like the same things you like deported.

You ought to re-think your question, because you've made yourself sound quite foolish, and I'm sure you didn't intend to.
