Yes it will hurt, but it will be a bearable pain. Your nervousness will give you the endorphins you need to handle it. But don't be ridiculously nervous because you will then pass out.
The rule of the back is: The areas that feel the best when being massaged will hurt the most when getting a tattoo. Bring a friend and hold their hand; you'll make it through just fine.
p.s. Because it is solid black,make sure it is what you really really want. You cannot cover over an all black tattoo unless you do it with an even bigger all black tattoo.

depends on your tolerance for pain. I have one on my lower back, it didn't hurt, it was annoying. It was more sensitive over the spine tho...so if you're boney you'll feel it more. Not a bad pain tho, more like you scratched your sunburn.
