Both. When you drain the pasta, put it back in the pan with a little olive oil and a little of the sauce. Put back on the heat and toss until combined. Serve separate from the sauce and let the guests decide how much sauce they want.

After they're cooked, you have to mix the noodles with something so they don't stick together. This can be a little of the sauce or something like oil or butter. Keep in mind that oil or butter will stop the sauce from adhering to the noodles as well. You should really only do this if you're going to be offering more than one sauce. Otherwise, just add enough sauce to coat the pasta - roughly 1/4-1/2 cup for a pound.

Only mix the sauce with the pasta if you plan to bake it in the oven with cheese on top.
Never toss with olive oil or butter because the sauce will not adhere to the noodles very well.
I use a large pot, with a strainer that fits inside and a lid, to cook my noodles with lots of water. I then remove the noodles by lifting the strainer that fits in the pot. I then dump most of the water in the sink, leaving about 2 inches. Then I replace the strainer containing the noodles and the lid. The residual steam in the pot will keep the noodles from sticking together.

you can do it either way. Usually i mix but if the people like different amounts of sauce on their pasta then it may be better to keep it seperate. To keep the noodles from sticking, rather then using the sauce, add some vegetable oil to the water when you cook them.

You'll need to put some sauce mixed in. Otherwise the noodles will stick. Plus, it's easier to serve with some already mixed in. Then have extra sauce for the top.

Its a matter of preference actually. Many cooks will take a slightly cooked pasta and finish cooking it in the sauce so that the noodles will take on more of the flavor of the sauce itself. If you are serving it with meatballs or sausage, then you might want to keep it separate. I personally like mine mixed together.

Mix the sauce after you have cooked the pasta. If you cook the pasta al dente, then it isn't necessary to rinse it under cold water. The sauce together with the hot pasta will insure a hot meal. So often the pasta is cold and the sauce is hot. What dissappointment and the cheese never melts on top. Have fun!!

The first night I serve spaghetti I put the sauce on top and then add cheese. If there are any left-overs I mix them together. You can also make a spaghetti casserole out of the left-overs.

I serve the sauce seperately, because it looks nicer, and the sauce gets mixed in anyway when you twirl it, and people can decide for themselves how much sauce they want.
Also, I always make too much spaghetti for the amount of sauce I have...

you do put some sauce on the noodles but just enough to get them wet. leave the rest of the sauce in another boiler so the person can decide on the amount of spaghetti sauce they want for themselves
