This is a question better posted in the Philosophy category.

I would have to say that Good and Bad are entirely relative to each other. It is almost impossible to know whether actions with good intentions will lead to good results.

Oh yeah, and your parents have a lot to do with your conception of the Good and the Bad.

There is no objective view of what is good and what is bad
It all depends on the circumstances of each event and or the individuals. What is good to one person may be bad to another. No wonder the adage that one man's meat may be another's poison. Sometimes certain things or actions generally thought to be bad are actually good while those thought to be good are actually bad. For example, no right thinking person will say that an armed robber is good; rather, robbers are generally believed to be bad. But a bad armed robber is one that does not or cannot rob successfully the way robbery should be done. He is always a failure in his attempt or endeavour to rob. Whereas a good armed robber will always rob or dispossess his victims with success. Can we then say that he that is good in what he does is not good? Of course no.

For the unbeliever, I would have to say there is no reason to make any moral distinction. To get a sense of right and wrong, they must presume upon the Christian worldview. Perhaps this is why the Bible calls the unbeliever a fool, for he reasons contrary to common sense.

Good and evil are not constants. What is good in one case will not be good in another, and evil in one circumstance will not be evil under a different set of conditions. In any one instance, the right course of action will have been shaped by the influence of the past and the present. The result may or may not be "good" or "evil", but it will still be the right action.

What you may call bad is good from another standpoint. Human Beings do not know enough to be able to judge what in the longrun is good and what is bad, and which may take the judgment of a God, or even the judgment of our one an only Omnicient, Omnipresent, Creator of all of us everywhere, making us all brothers and sisters.

God made the moral law, which is shown in the Ten commandments. He also put his law deep down in our hearts which is why all people from all areas have the same basic values. Of course many choose to not follow that internal law and it gets dull when not used but it is there. All who follow God's law must keep it perfectly or they are judged as violators. We are all violators of the law and deserve eternal death and separation from God.

Apparently, there is a line in the Bahgvadita that says "The difference between right and wrong is the thickness of a butterfly's wing".

Obedience to the One True God is good; disobedience to Him is bad.
God commands us to love, so it is good when we love.
God commands us to forgive, so it is good when we forgive.
God commands us to be humble, so it is good when we respect other people.
We can get the commands of God by reading the Holy Books.
We can observe His commands by meditating about them again and again until when we get into the essence. The more we understand Him, the easier we can obey. On the surface, we may see the contradiction in the commands of God. It is really hard to understand and practice both love and justice.
All humanity want to be loved, talk about love, wish to express love..., but in reality we still see more hatred than love! That is due to our lack of education about God in our age of immaturity, we still see no God, no power of God, no benefit in obeying God. In various societies, good and bad are defined by men, not by God; therefore there are war, contradiction, confusion, destruction, desperation.
So, each mature human being should use his free will to seek for the truth. He should continue his search until when he can go through the world with peace, prosperity and progress, not only for himself but for the whole human race.

Good and bad have totally different meaning to everyone, what one considers good, someone else may consider bad and vice versa, depends on your individual code of ethics and morality.

it all depends on your opinion and the community that you live in.we have made up "good and bad" by ourselves. for example say someone in a christian community is more likely to think of homosexuality as a bad thing, but someone in a athiest community is more likely to except it. it all depends on your culture.
