Well, when I make chocolate chip cookies I just use the recipe on the back of the chocolate chips. There are a few things that you must do,and you`ll have yummy cookies every time.Only bake one cookie sheet at a time.Preheat oven for at least 10 minutes before baking.Always bake in center of oven.Always line the cookie sheets with foil. The foil makes the cookies come out softer.Cream the butter and sugar really well.A few minutes if you have the time.Once you add the flour and dry ing. do not over mix.Don`t overbake them either. If they look like they may need another minute or so,chances are they`re done!Hope I was helpful and happy baking!Oh, by the way if you`re interested in a good baking cookbook try Mrs.Feilds!

I think the secret to good chocolate chip cookies is to add a couple extra tablespoons of flour to any recipe you like so that the dough is very stiff. Also, I like to underbake them by a minute or two so that they are still soft. They will set up after you take them out of the oven and let them cool.

I also liked the answer that said to use half butter and half shortening. That way you get the yummy butter flavor, but less crispiness because you didn't use all butter.

Good luck!

I just follow the recipe on the back of the the chocolate chip bag (the Nestle Tollhouse ones), except for one small detail...
The secret ingredient? Extra vanilla.
One time my sister was making cookies, and she read the recipe wrong. Instead of a teaspoon of vanilla extract, she put in a tablespoon. They were the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever tasted.

The best chocolate chip cookies use a mixture of shortening and butter or margarine. This makes the cookie soft on the inside and crisp on the outside.
