I'm visiting my Dad and he does not adhere to the food guidelines I was taught. Refrigerate meat for a couple days only....the meat in his fridge was there for a week. It turned gray but surely not green. I know I will probably be okay....but will anything really bad happen if I eat the burger waiting for me?

" I wouldn't eat it"

" Meat that turns Gray is due to being exposed to oxygen or not
being covered properly , the meat should be all right but always
smell food left in the fridge to long.

A Simple Rule To Food:- " If in Doubt , Throw it out "

Chances are is that you have a 50/50 chance of being sick or
the burger not tasting good . If the fridge temperature is lower than 4degrees Celsius the bacteria will lie dormant and when cooking or re-heating ,heat to 60 degree Celsius to kill any bacteria before eating .

But always use your nose!!!

I stick to the food guidelines pretty strictly with hamburger and other ground meats. Because it is ground up, there is more surface area for microbes to start munching on. Also, there is more likelihood of any contamination getting into the center of the meat, since it is all ground up and mixed together. I am not saying that all ground meat is dangerous or anything like that, but it is a good idea to play it safe sanitation-wise with it. I wouldn't eat it.

If it grew to become into completely cooked and has been left in the refrigerator for each week, it would nonetheless be stable. supply it a sniff. If it has any unusual scent, toss it to be risk-free. If it smells like cooked hamburger meat then that's possibly to be risk-free. only be sure you deliver it lower back as much as risk-free temperature first till now ingesting only to be risk-free. that's finished by using microwaving it or by using cooking it in a sauce (alongside with a spaghetti sauce).

I have had numerous stomach issues. My doctors suggested eating food with in 72 hours of original prep. time. Besides, red-meats have been known to carry bacteria, so I would say no.

I would only consider it if the date on the packaging is not past yet.

I really wouldnt suggest it. . . .Smell it, and see if the texture seems different. . . .If it's bad you'd be able to tell.
