Been there, done that....picked it up again.

OK, maybe it's time to give yourself a break. I've been playing and teaching for a number of years, and I've put it down for a while, too.

Don't touch the guitar for a few days. Pick it back up, put some new strings on it, maybe even take it into the shop for a setup(new strings, adjust the action, intonation, etc) It'll probably cost about $50(call around for prices and turnaround times), and unless there's something seriously wrong with it, you'll feel the difference when you play it. When you get it back from the shop, locate someone at about your skill level, share the music/tab/chords for a song or two to start; familiarize yourself with the material, and meet for a jam session. Music is a social activity- we all need a partner or two we can work with for mutual support- if you're trying to do it alone, you probably won't get very far.

Good Luck

First, you need to put on music (preferably Barry White), then light some candles, and tell you that you still love it...

I've actually had the same thing recently. It can be mistaken for a condition called anhedonia (a symptom of depression).
If you don't think so, then just try to play something you've never tried to play before. It usually works for me.

i felt like that once. find some songs you like playing and try that. or try new tunings or get something new like a capo or something to add some excitement to the sound. change the strings too if they are old because that low heavy sound might be getting to you. if all that fails. stop playing for a bit, a month or so then try to play. hearing the sound might get something started again. if that fails to spark interest again, then it might be time to get another instrument, say a harmonica. a small investment just in case you want to get back to the guitar.

Set time aside each day and play it. Master a song and congratualate yourself on obtaining a goal. Remind yourself you did it once and you can do it again.
