youth worker?

Just wonderin I know of a similar situation and said person is keeping it very quiet. One of the reasons she got the job is she used to (we hung around in the same circals) and one of her old christian youth workers offered her the job but he doesnt know about the change of faith. She isnt doing any of the faith based stuff though and has told me she would refuse if she was asked.

Where on earth have people got that i'm asking you to discriminate or persecute. i'm asking if they found out if they would be angry because its a possibility they could, I'm not going to tell them but how do you get round not wanting to lie but if they ask her an out and out question she is actually scared to tell the truth.

Its a christian sponsored programme - they run the thing from a church hall and its the best in the area. I guess she must answer questions from the christian point of view if asked, she can cause she grew up in it.

I would fire her on the spot for lying on her resume, and withholding this from me.

Youth camp is for the Christian kids, not a Wicca witch. That's inviting the devil to your dinner table.

Thumb down all you want.. its not run by the government therefore there is NO wages passed.. I would fire that witch in a heart beat.

While I'm not Christian, I can put the shoe on the other foot and ask myself, how would I feel if a Christian was working at one of our youth clubs as a volunteer or youth worker. If she's keeping her religion to herself and isn't doing any of the faith based stuff, I wouldn't see anything wrong with it. Maybe she just wants to volunteer. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of Wiccan youth volunteer opportunities in some places. And as long as she isn't trying to convert others (which Wiccans don't do anyway) - I don't see a problem.

Well, based on the fact that if it is not a church related program, Religion of any sort would not be aloud as discussion. So, if that person is a good person, it really shouldn't matter, as faiths and beliefs would not be discussed. BTW, I am a Christian.

Regardless of whatever religion or no religion. If it were a Christian sponsored program run from a Church, I think only Christians should be in it.

She should probably tell him before she decides to work there. I'm sure there'd be a lot of church ladies up in arms if one of them 'heathenses' was 'corrupting' their children. I don't think I'd even want to work in that type of environment, it'd feel kind of...oppressive. She maybe can find a better job that doesn't involve hiding her faith.

meh, i worked at a christian daycare for about 2 years. i am agnostic and have been for a long time. the only difference is, i dont push my religion on people. i would however, if the child came up asking a question about god, would answer them in a christian view. i grew up in a christian school for 12 years. nothing against them, just not one of them.

(its sad to see at the daycare how they get brainwashed at ages 2 1/2 and older)

I don't think it is a problem if she is good with kids and the kids like her. a lot of people would, I definately wouldn't make her religion a matter of conversation, but if I consider her to be a good person then it's fine

If it is a private club then it is their right. Just do not let the government support religion.

I don't think it would matter. Volunteers are volunteers. If you are asked to speak about the gospel message, that is one thing, but if it simply to help, then why not?

Are you saying you approve of discrimation in the workplace based purely on religious grounds, even if it is voluntary work?

It's happening more than what people know. It's not only Wicca but, every kind of goofy thing you can think of. The New Age stuff is creeping into every religion (or trying to).
