Or a homeless shelter?

Or a charitable organisation?

2007-01-29 09:49:39 · update #2

Who built the hospitals we know today? Who built and runs most of the homeless shelters..? - The government. Or, literally, the builders. What's your point? It definitely isn't the churches funding them ALL. And churches aren't needed - people can gather anywhere or just worship God alone.

And I don't have a house yet. And I have no control over my parents money, except not leeching too much off them. I spend my own money on charity shop goods and homeless people quite often, though I dont have a constant income yet so I cant sign up to give money to charity monthly/annually. I would feel like a **** if I spent all my money on myself, you cant assume that I do.

Who built the hospitals we know today? Who built and runs most of the homeless shelters.. What is it you want us to do? Do you spend everything you have on charities that look for cures to terrible illnesses, or making for there are no homeless suffering in the cold? Why not?.. Look to your own house before jumping on the people that have done more than you have!!! Jim

this is a good question, all would be of service to someone. but i think if i had my druthers, i would start an organization to help people get back on their feet. there are so many people who are willing to help themselves, but no one wants to give them a break or they are immediately discarded due to looks or race.

i work in a bank, and from that vantage point i see many coworkers who label those from lesser incomes as "trash". many can't get hired because they don't have the wardrobe or transportation, yet they are eeking out a meager living on social security, child support or unemployment. i see the faces of their children when i send a sticker or sucker through the drive thru window, and how happy they are for such a little thing.

i don't know if it would be a shelter, we have one of those in my small town. i think it would be aimed at finding things people could use and that they need in order to progress as much as possible from their poverty level. these things could be cars, jobs, clothes, college. this organization would be to help other's acheive their goals and become financially secure instead of paycheck to paycheck.

i think most, in this position, really just want a way out but are too caught up just trying to survive. and with the amount of discrimination they face - it's something that could really work. it's amazing what a set of false teeth can do to make a difference in a job interview.

i would use barter and trade to get these people what they need. a system of people helping people.

so i guess my answer is - a charitable organization. only it wouldn't be charity. it would be a pay it forward kind of thing.

I would build a hospital as over here there always seems to be a shortage of beds, therefore kicking people out of the hospital to make way for the next patient. Some people need a longer stay in hosp, and sending some homew early does not help them!. As for a church, well we regard the earth as our church, we don't need to build a temple in the name of anything.

Hospital or homeless shelter. There are more than enough empty churches as it is anyway. Some of those should be converted into homeless shelters.

How about a hospital with a chapel for believers and a free clinic and a seperate wing for the homeless?

I would build a hospital with a chapel in it. One wing of the hospital could be for the homeless, and another for those unable to pay. This would be a huge hospital with all available services, for everyone.
