We went over to visit a coworker's new house and stayed longer because we were having a good time. When they ordered pizza, we found ourselves short on cash and couldn't chip in. Should we.
a.) Give him money the next time we see him?
b.) Offer to buy next time?
c.) Ignore the whole thing?
d.) Something else?

If you really had a good time, I'd opt for b! Don't be too vague about the 'next time' though, but try to make it a definite invitation, set a date. If that doesn't work because of time constraints or for other reasons, a is a decent alternative. C is only acceptable if your coworker was *very* explicit in saying it wasn't any problem and he didn't want anything in return, I'd really prefer either of the first two options.

Invite them to your house for dinner. This really wasn't a faux pas unless you offered to buy the pizza in the first place and/or they had been trying to get you leave before it got there.

D.
Invite them over and respond in kind. Either serve them dinner or order out (their choice). The fact you brought a GIFT is moot, has no meaning since it was a Gift!
However, I think that your invitation will be accepted and everything will be forgotten! You sound like nice people!

I would explain and have an IOU party at my house next time... If they had a problem with that, take your wine and leave... Or you could let them drink all the wine and tell them you paid for the pizza!!! LOL

Personally, I probably wouldn't get hung up about it. It's not as if you turned up with no money then asked them to get pizza (is it?). I guess that means I'd go with option c. If you really feel you have to do anything, I go with option b - invite them round for dinner, perhaps.
If I were in your co-worker's shoes, I would feel quite uncomfortale (some may even go as far as to say insulted) if you went with option a.

Ignore the whole thing., because you did give him a bottle of wine. Treating you all to pizza is the least he could do to entertain you for visiting him.

This solution is a fun and simple one: Invite your coworker to dinner at your house. Now, you're even! : )

The best response would be to give the money, and if it is declined say thank you and offer to pay next time.

I would say "Thanks again for the lovely evening the other night. I was a little short on cash then but could I take you to lunch next week?"

I would choose B. Invite him over sometime soon and pay for his dinner! He will realize that you weren't just being a mooch and forget all about it!
