I come here to educate people that religion is really just superstition. Religion is causing much harm to society, and I wish to open people's eyes to it.

Very good questions.
I guess I come to the religion & spirituality section because I believe that if we can all come to accept each other where we are in regards to religion (etc.) that is a good first step in waging peace on the world.
What I have unfortunately found with some (not all) is that being an anonymous forum seems to give people the ok to speak their mind - which, given many of the questions and responses I see - makes me sad and feel like peace will never happen.
I want folks to know that not all Christians believe everyone else should be Christian. Not all Christians follow the bible word-for-word. Not all Christians hate athiests, homosexuals or anyone else who is different. Not all Christians hate those who have other religious beliefs. Not all Christians follow blindly and without questioning. NOT ALL CHRISTIANS HATE.
I would really love to see more who want to learn and understand about how a particular religion operates. I would love to hear good stories about spirituality or how lack of spirituality or lack of religion makes one feel good. I see this forum as an opportunity to learn - and I have.
PEACE

Because a lot of people don't know about the truth about Christians - they seem to think we're all like those that are seen in the news a lot of times. The fanatics make the news but the real Christians are the ones that make up the churches of America and they're the ones that don't seem to have a voice.
I, also believe that I should witness for Christ as often as possible and to pass on the Word of God as much as I can so that the atheists and the agnostics have a chance to see the Truth as well others and have a chance to accept Christ right along with anyone else who may need to hear or see His message.

The questions and answers can sometimes give insight into what's going on in people's heads and hearts. I've learned some things about others and myself.
I am always surprized to see thumbs down though...just because of a disagreement with someone's beliefs. I hope anyone, including myself, would use this as an opportunity to question and seek answers. Or give input from personal experience. Isn't that the point of Y!A?

I enjoy talking about spirituality and religion. In person, most people I have met (90% Christians) don't want to discuss these issues because they went to church on Sunday and feel that was enough time spent on their god.
People that ask/answer questions on yahoo obviously want to discuss it, so it's like a breath of fresh air for me. I also appreciate that person that is enlightened by something I am given to say, even if it's only 1% of the time.

I keep coming because I think there are times when I need to answer (there are times I don't and then am silent) I don't feel compelled to defend my beliefs but I am willing to stand up for them when I need to.

That is actually a very good question. I don't undersand it but I am drawn like a moth to flame. Maybe it gives me somewhat of an ego boost reading some of the illogical things that people think. Honestly, I do not know.

Peace be with you.
I come because it is the work that God has given all of us. This is the parabble of the talents. Jesus gave us a presious gift, and I have sold all that I have to purchase it, I am to share all that God has given me with all who ask, that I may glorify God, by my good works. But God is the owner of the vineyard, and has sent his son to tell us what we must do to receive the PROMISED LAND and the Blessings, that are not of this world. When I go before the throne, and the Book of life is turn to my offerings, I will be able to say in my heart, what you have given me O Lord, I have multiplied, I have sowed this many seeds, and have lost none. I have kept the faith, and honored God, in thy Name.

curiosity about what others think, to learn about other religions, call people out when they're being hateful to other religions, plus it sometimes gives heated discussion between you and another person if you can contact them. A good debate is always fun, as long as it isn't hateful

Combination of things really. I'm interested in religion and spiritual stuff. It"s interesting to see how different people think, and why they believe in what they do. Also it can be a laugh too.
