my 3 year old takes swimming classes and has played soccer (football). It was not a very intense team environment, more just learning some skills and the rules. I think you should definitely look into for your child. I'm sure he'd loved just being around other kids. Start with just one activity at a time though so you and he aren't overwhelmed

Does your son go to school yet? If so do they run after school clubs? You could give those a try. I think you have to be 5 to start Beavers but there can be a waiting list so get his name down now. Think about what he enjoys doing at home and try to find a club to fit. Check out local council for under 5's provision or have a look in your local library.

Beavers is for 5 years plus but swimming and football are both great ideas. When your son starts school, they will probably have these sorts of things going on after school anyway.

swimming is always a good thing but the waiting lists are usually enormous, beavers starts at 6 i think, my son is 6 and i am trying to get him to go, football is good but there is the pressure to be good at this so i've stayed away, what about karate? i don't know where you are in manchester but near me there is a karate school that takes kids from 3. it teaches them discipline as well as self defence, could be worth a shot.

as you're his mum, you will have the best idea about what sort of activities he enjoys. you could even ask him what he likes doing and what he might want to try.

then look up clubs for kids of his age in the local area, both which are suitable for him now and which he will soon be old enough for which you can put his name down for ready.

you would probably be best waiting until about 5, as most kids clubs are under 5s clubs for his age and in less than a year he'll have to stop going.

Kids are never too young for swimming lessons. He'll love it and it could save his life.

Is there an enjoy-a-ball class? those are cool. All ball sports encouraged, fun, mixed groups.

I think beavers is for school age, no?
