Greetings everyone,

I've recently started a small business and want to be able to keep track of contacts and when I've communicated with them. ACT seems to be the big player in this category, but I was wanting to explore the free programs out there before shelling out any money.

Can anyone suggest a freeware program with ACT's features? Ideally, it should be a standalone application, but web-based suggestions are also welcome.

Thanks!

If you're referring to "ACT!" (http://www.act.com/), you might want to look into CRM (Customer Relationship Management) solutions instead of "Contact Management".

There are a few CRM solutions out there that compare favorably to ACT! SugarCRM (www.sugarcrm.com) is an open source solution, while salesforce.com is a well-respected commerical solution that is entirely web based. You might also try searching for "CRM software" or similar terms.

A google search using keywords "free contact management program" should get you plenty of results.
