I have very mild asthma, when the shortness of breath comes I ussually wait it out for half an hour until I grab my inhaler. That settles the recent shortness of breath about 85%. There is also on/off nausea that I cant do much about. I just sit down and focus on something else. This doesnt come with headaches. There is also abdominal pain when I lie down. It is blunt but I cant really feel it. I was told it may just be anxiety because a lot has been going on. What else could it be?

First of all, I am sorry honey that you are dealing with health problems at so young an age. I started having major health problems at 23 y/o and know something of how that can affect your life.

I used to work as a RN for many years and wonder why you wait 1/2 hour after becoming short of breath before you use your inhaler? Did your doctor tell you to do this? Also, if you are having to use your inhaler frequently I wonder if you are on adequate doses of oral meds? Please ask your doctor about this and ask him to explain his reasons for what he/she wants you to do.

Was it your doctor who said that possibly your nausea and abdominal pain is due to anxiety? I don't like that at all! Doctors are supposed to find out what is wrong and try to fix it, not just pass it off as anxiety and do nothing!

Nausea with abdominal pain could be stomach ulcers, it could be side effects of any pills you have to take for your asthma, and it could be both or neither. Your doctor should really do the tests necessary to find out exactly what is causing this.

My best wishes for you honey. I pray that you can get your asthma under good control and that you can get your abdominal problems resolved.

Why do you wait to use your inhaler. If you can't breathe, you are doing damage to your lungs and that in and of itself could explain the remaining 15% of your shortness of breathe. Not being able to breate could also cause you nausea. But, if you think the two are not related, but that the nausea is related to the stomach pain, I would consider:

PMS
gastritis
acid reflux disorder
gastroparesis
appendicitis (if pain is accute, on your right side near the pelvic bone, moving towards your middle)
side effects from medications you might be taking
stomach flu

Nausea and abdominal pain can comes from several different things including but not limited to appendix, gall bladder, stomach virus, anxiety etc. You really need to see the Dr if it persists for a proper diagnosis.
