if a person is sentenced to die the only problem I have with it is the appeals process. They should be given 1 appeal and if they lose they should be executed at once.

From a Biblical perspective, I see nothing wrong with using the death penalty. From a financial and crime prevention perspective, I see no reason to have it.
It costs more money to execute someone than to house him for the rest of his life. Death row, and appeals cost too much in dollars AND in having the victim's families re-live the event. If we are to execute someone though, we MUST have those appeals go through to make sure we have the responsible party.
Lastly, housing that person for the rest of his life will prevent him from killing again - MOST murderers are pretty well behaved in prison, compared to career criminals, SOME are career criminals themselves and need to be removed from the main population. But as far as execution being a deterrent for others.... it does not prove out to be a general deterrent.

The biblical culture of Israel had no infrastructure to store criminals away for a long time. They had to deal with crime to keep the general population safe.
.
It is a question whether our culture should store people away for long periods of time, or en-act the death penalty to keep the population safe.
.
If as many murderers re-offend as there are convicted murderers who are innocent but executed, is it still justified?
There are murderers who have little remorse and admit themselves that they would do it again.
Are there some cracked vases that just can't be fixed?
What do you do with those in a society without an infrastructure, and what about in a society with an infrastructure?
.
What about the victims of crime? The person and their families?
Do they get a second chance?
.

We are to judge wisely and see the trure extent of the crime, but:
There is a sin unto death -1John 5:16
There is very little point in trying to negotiate/rehabilitate/fix a mad dog is there? It must be destroyed for the good of all.
Having a heart is one thing, being a fool another. If you knew the pain a murderer causes, or the shame that a murderer brings on their family, death is a mercy.

I disagree with the death penalty. My main reason for disagreeing is that we are not God and therefore should not determine when someone else loses their life. God said vengeance is His, so we should lean and depend on God to handle those situations.
I also disagree because a person can be sentenced to death for a crime and another person can commit the same crime and be sentenced differently. That is not right.

No, not EVERYBODY deserves a second chance. I'm neutral on the death penalty. If that is what the majority in society want, then so be it. Although I couldn't sentence someone to death or carry out an execution personally. (Unless they really done me wrong.)

"Everyone deserves a second chance" is a great concept for the kid that accidentally broke your window with a baseball. The guy who kills my Uncle Fred needs to die. Murderers don't suddenly turn into Wallace Cleaver and have a nice house, a dog, and a kid named Beaver. Not in real life.
The analogy about the vase doesn't make sense either. You can repair a vase. A murderer? How do you do that?
I think it's interesting nobody says much about how victims and their families have to spend their days. They ARE THE FORGOTTEN ONES.

In a perfect correctional system I would rather not choose the death penalty, but with our current correctional system I would have to be in favor of it.
Jesus himself was sentenced to death on a cross and the thief next to him said, "for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss" so clearly the death penalty is not condemned by God only if it is undeserving.

The purpose behind the death penalty debate is that human life is precious right?
Well, which one (pro or con) has a higher view of Human Life? That is the riddle. That life is so precious that someone who murders someone else should pay with his own life OR that they shouldn't...
