As a religion, which is a set of rules and traditions, I would agree with you that Christianity is dead. But as the decision of an individual's mind and heart to worship and trust a living God, it is anything but dead. It is life itself.

I understand where you are coming from, I think. The public reputation of Christianity in the USA has been deeply tainted by the well-publicized abuses, shenanigans and narrow political stands that characterize certain groups and leaders within the Christian community. It is this public image that most non-Christians are familiar with, and indeed, many Christians try to distance themselves from.

It is said that the squeaky hinge gets the oil. In the case of Christianity, it's the most vocal, extreme or spectacular that gets the news coverage. Of course, this is universally true. As an example, Islamic extremists who engage in terrorist acts and call for the annihilation of Western civilization have given even law-abiding, peace-loving American citizens of Middle Eastern origin a bad name.

I would encourage you not to condemn an entire community, or further, the belief system or even the supreme Being which *supposedly* unites them, because there are a minority of bad apples in the bushel. Instead, take some time to read one of the Gospel accounts of the life and teachings of Jesus in the New Testament and find out what true Christianity is really about. I can assure you that there are many Christians who make a daily attempt to live their lives accordingly.

Are you being sarcastic here, or do you just really not know what you're talking about? Look, it's really too bad if you've had a not-so-great experience in the church, but if you honestly think that all Christians have no faith and just go through the motions, vote for the same people, and give money, then wow. I honestly don't know how to tell you how delusional you sound.

P.S. - What does panking my chilgren have to do with my faith?

Christianity is alive and well my friend, however your observation isn't far from some truths. Unfortunately there are some folks out there who practice a "dead" form of the faith or who don't take the time to truly practice the what the Bible teaches.

But why are you so hard on Christians? People belonging to other religions, clubs, groups, societies are guilty of the same atrocities. Why do you think it's a Christian characteristic to not practice what is preached? Is it possible that this is a human phenomenon that people want to pursue pleasure and avoid pain? That people want to put them-self first and everyone else second?

Christianity is about letting go of all of your human desires and letting God be in control of your life. About being forgiven and forgiving others. To accept yourself as a child of God and putting your faith in Him.

It's unfortunate that there are many imposter's out there misrepresenting the faith or that some "Christians" only see it fit to visit church on holidays. Try reading the Bible and praying and discover Christianity for yourself. I think you'll be in for a surprise.

Weather or not some people spank their children, use profanity, and murder doesn't mean that all of Christianity do those things.

1.) There are several different types of Christians.
Not all are the same. Talk to some from different denominations, and you will see.

2.)There are many people who consider themselves Christians, believe that there is a God but doesn't serve Him like they should.

There are many Christians out there who do those things, and they aren't setting a good example, but we aren't going to banish them from Church because of what they did. We believe in mercy and forgiveness.

Dead? No. You make some valid observations about Christianity, but that's a flaw of religion in general, not any one specific theology. Any time you have mortals trying to interpret the divine, you're going to have issues with the interpretations. And anytime you involve money in religion, (or any large group of people (think politics here) you're opening the door to corruption in some form.

That being said, I've met some wonderful people who try to hold to the teachings of Christ to the best of their ability. They're not always perfect . . . but they try. I may not agree with their beliefs on a specific level, but on a basic level, peace, love, and morality isn't necessarily a bad thing, is it?

of course in the end it is not dead if Jesus walked out of His tomb... which He did

I can asure you for many Christians it is a very living faith HOWEVER for some... its not and its more a going thru the motions

Jesus said the church would be a mixtrure of wheat (the real) and tares ( fakes) and all through history there has been a mixture of people claiming to follow Jesus and people who really did

Christianity is a live religion. It celebrates God, who came to earch as a man, died, and resurrected Himself.

Sure, there are politics. Sure there is $$$. Sure there are people who would use it for their own ends. This is true for any organization...religious in nature or not.

However, the great thing about Christianity is that it is a personal religion. It is meant to be between God and the individual. Nothing can take that away.

I guess for some it is. But for me, it is alive. I can see Jesus working in my life. My Bible teacher who has a very strong faith even witnessed a miracle when his sons broken ankles straightened themselves up in front of his eyes after praying. I love Jesus and he loves you and me. My family go to church every week not from obligation but from love to worship and learn about God. When you know Jesus and have a relationship with him you will truly love him and be filled with peace and joy.

All religions are false .Religion doesn`t really have anything to do with good and evil .The way you were brought up by your parents does . How Society as a whole treated you does .Your decision on the kind of person you want to be does .
It all starts with One Person.Hopefully the good people will win out .
