not directly but they can attach any asset with a court order ( this never happens - worst they ever do is attach wages if your income is high enough )

but why wouldn't you want to pay your debts !

THE ONLY debts that can cause your refund to be diverted is a debt to the Federal or State government ( federal taxes- state taxes ) or a debt that falls under a federal law ( bankruptcy payments or child support or legal judgments in a court - like a divorce settlement )

No. Not normally.

There is an exception, though. If you have a Military Star account with the Exchange Service (AAFES or NEX) that is in default, your tax refund CAN be taken to settle that debt.
