Did anyone else notice a sense of desperation among the Evangelicals? Homeschooling their children, hiding them from social contact with non-believers (except to proselytize), pushing beliefs at a very early age, blessing the president, teaching ultra conservatism without teaching alternate viewpoints, etc.... going to extremes.
Does anyone else get the feeling that they realized they might just be on the "religious endangered species list"?

Chippy- Oddly enough, my grandfather was a guard for Ed Gein in prison (and a friend... I guess he was really a nice guy with a lot of problems). I have a meal ticket with his signature on it.

you said "Homeschooling their children, hiding them from social contact with non-believers (except to proselytize), pushing beliefs at a very early age"
sounds a lot like the upbringing of Ed Gein, (the guy they based the movie "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" off of)
creepy. i kinda wanna see it but it kinda creeps me out too... (the jesus camp movie not the other)

Their sheltered and controlled world is quickly falling apart, mostly due to the availability of easy to access information (internet). I expect they will become much more radical over the next few years in one final effort to keep their people underfoot. It really is frightening the lengths people will go to press their values on a captive audience.

This documentary movie is something the most scary I ever seen. It reminds me on system which was used in Nazi Germany. So sad, I feel sorry for the kids.

Haven't seen the film yet.
I'm not sure what's worse, raping a child's body or a child's mind.
Too sad the latter is legal and even encouraged and commended.

That is generally the reason for withdrawing from society as they have. I'd imagine they have realized this quite fully, but believe they are "protecting" their children from a society gone haywire.

Its a MOVIE. No one came to me and interviewed me about life, etc. I'm an evangelical. They base their entertainment on opinion, and rumor. Also gossip, which God hates.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Call me ONE OF THOSE!! God bless you. I do teach my kids about the filth there is in this world that comes from all of us. I am only cleansed by the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ's blood. I can relate to all of you that think we are wacky, cause I was just like you.

They need to feel that they are under attack, so they can feel justified in attacking others
