I have been sober for almost 3 years and am now attending college, I am getting ready to transfer to an Univerisity and I cannot figure out my major, because of my state jail felony. I get off probation in 6 months and so far have completed probation successfully and will not be convicted, so what are my options then. I want to teach 1st grade, or become a nurse, can I totally forget about either one of those professions? What about drug and alcohol counseling???? Help!!

I would suggest you contact the board of education where you want to teach and see if your past will prohibit you from teaching.

As for being a nurse, same thing...check the laws in your area. Nurses have access to controlled substances, and your felon status may preclude you from being able to work in a hospital.

Do some research and find out the facts.

You could try working from home. Check this out http://www.pcworkathome.net/onlineteaching.html
