If given the option of pain medications that never fix the problem or correcting the cause - Have you considered going to see a reputable chiropractor? They can not fix everything but can do a lot and it will take several adjustments, especially if you are an adult.(kids heal faster)
Look for one who uses a tool that lets them do much more accurate improvements called an "activator", it is kind of like a little plunger that is hand held and adjustable so it can apply the proper amount of pressure. The end that touches you as the patient is like the end of the door stops that screw into the wall in your house.

i just had surgery and nothing they gave me seemed to work. I had vicodin, tylenol with codine, and percs. They finaly gave me morphine. Now that worked. If you have a low tolerance for pain meds I would suggest tylenol with codine. Good luck

You could ask for Tylenol w/codeine 2or3, or maybe darvocet (it might be a little strong but it will work), but ask for IBU if your not already on it it helps with pain associated with swelling/inflammation

A steroid is the ultimate anti-inflamatory. For pain maybe darvacet, narcotic but mild.
