I take just one pill, as directed, but it still makes me extremely groggy, tired, and forgetful. What ingredient does this? I'm supposedly taking the non-drowsy version!

The active ingredient (diphenhydrmine) in benadryl is the same as over-the-counter sleep aids like sleepinal.
Benadryl has 25 mg in each pill and sleep-aids have 50 mg. It is simultaneously an antihistamine and sleep-aid.

Benedryl is an anti-histamine which contains diphenhydramine. That's the ingredient that makes you groggy. Some people have the opposite effect when they take it. My 5 year old nephew get hyper when he takes benedryl.
