I am looking to get a new car for under 25k. Highest criteria is fastest as possible with lowest miles possible. Also has to be decently nice on the inside and a manual transmission. Choices so far:
2003-2004 Mustang Mach 1
Nissan 350Z
Audi S4
Pontiac GTO
Chevrolet Corvette C5
Mazda RX-8
2004-2005 Jetta GLI

If you have a new car, great. If not, which of these choices and why?

I have a Yellow GTO. The thing is awesome. Fast as hell, great looking, comfortable to drive, ok to insure, reasonable to service (oil changes etc.) and mods and aftermarket parts are easy to find and affordable. My hubby has a 350Z. Also great looking. Expensive to insure, tiny inside. Not as fast as the GTO, but handles as well or a little better. We drove the Corvette and it was not as comfortable to drive, but was fast. The Jetta is boring looking compared to the rest but would get better gas mileage. The Audi would also get better gas mileage but also not the wicked fast big block power of the GTO. The Mach 1 is out dated and a pig to handle so I would rule it out personally. The Mazda is too much money for what you get in my opinion.

Subaru WRX

I have one, they are great. The turbo and gearing takes a little getting used to, but with an active pilot, they can run with cars costing twice as much. You can get a new one for around $25k, or find a couple years used WRX STi for that much.

A 2004 STi runs about 300hp, 300 lb/ft torque, and will do 0-60 in about 4.6 sec. Also, it is AWD, and has the boxter engine, similar to the Porsches. Fast as hell, with terrific handling.

I don' t know of any place you will find a new Corvette for under $25 grand but that sure is wishful thinking I'd go with the Toyota Camry.

For handling, from that list, 350Z, Corvette, RX8.

In a straight line, Corvette, GTO, maybe the Mustang.

Also you could get a low-miles S2000 for that money.
