you could paint 2 opposing walls a submarine gray and paint a row of "portholes" with underwater scenes in them like sharks, octopus etc. make the portholes really pop out using 3-D effect by cutting plywood Os for porthole frames.Paint the other 2 walls aqua blue.put bolts around the door and window frames to make them look like they're in a sub. use steel lockers for storage. using PVC plumbing pipe painted grey, make a "periscope" that comes down from the ceiling. would be cool if you could get someone to paint a large fierce-looking octopus or stingray on one of the blue walls. use one of those domed light fixtures with steel bars across it (think theyre actually meant for outdoors, but could be used inside) they look really nautical.

That could be really fun. Choose an underwater type of color or sponge it with light greens and aqua and blue. Then make your design for the submarine. Outline it boldly and choose the color for what would be the interior of it. Look in library books for some ideas. You could do the detail a bit at a time but would want to get the basic solid colors in place. The bunks could be in the submarine. The bedding could be some fabric that you love that goes along with the nautical theme, either a pattern with fishy stuff on it or a solid navy blue. You might be able to find some old trunks for storage like the guys would take when they go to sea. Sounds like a lot of work and fun.

You could paint the ceiling a very light blue with the bottom of a boat so that it looks like you are under water looking up. Extend the light blue paint about one foot down around all four walls to give you a definite division of the two spaces. On the walls, use three different shades of blues and teals to show the movement of underground water currents and movement. Then go to children's books for ideas for under water characters and water scenes, and add stuff that fit in with your theme by copying them on the wall. Or use a projector to project the image on the wall and then trace it. Use color on the objects and characters.

My sis-in-law got stencils (from ebay i think) of all kinds of underwater creatures like sharks, sea turtles, octupus, rocks, etc. & painted all walls like an aquarimum or ocean bottom. Looks awesome but took a lot of work. She even got the paint that has sand or something added for texture that makes it really stand out.

We bought a photo mural for my daughter's room and she loves it. I bought it online for less than $100 and it included the glue you use to install it. It only took a couple of hours for my wife and I get to get it up. My daughter is the envy of all of her friends.
