Yea, slavery is still a huge problem. Some estimate that there are most slaves now than at any other point in history (of course we have more people too). But to say someone works because they are too poor to have other options, and they have a real bad job... that's not the same. We have millions of people today that live with their lives threatened daily because of slavery, who are abused, and are simply kept alive. This is very different from an illegal immigrant that is traped by his debt to a company- we've had that messed up system forever in america -like in mining.
I agree with other posts that we should be very clear on real slavery and propaganda. The worst thing would be for people to think the guy selling oranges on the street is a modern 'slave' while they turn their backs on the million of real slaves out there.

I'm sure that anyone who has knowlege of true slavery would find the idea that illegals are slaves to be completely ridiculous. And since true slavery still exists it is even more horrifying that illegals or their supporters could compare their benefits and privileges here to slavery. It's easy to see why so many of them volunteer for such 'oppression'. Too bad it isn't available to you unless you are hispanic and illegal. That 'article' was the opinion of one A hole, and does not reflect the opinions of most people.

There is still a lot of slavery both in the US and abroad. Many of the massage parlors in the US are staffed by girls sold to the establishment's owner for the cost of getting them to the country. These girls are made to do various sex acts to repay their debt. i guess this is more in line with indentured servant but really what is the difference?

The only countries where human slavery is openly practiced is Mauritania and Sudan. Since this section is about immigration, and not about Black Muslims, I cannot go into details.

Definition of SLAVE:
1 : a person held in servitude as the chattel of another
2 : one that is completely subservient to a dominating influence
Definition of Servitude:
1 : a condition in which one lacks liberty especially to determine one's course of action or way of life.
Therefore, NO.
My opinion, a racist, ignorant article.

You can't be a slave when you volunteer for it and are free to go whenever you want.
