One way to make a room look bigger is to trick the eye. Paint the room in light neutral shades first. Try re-arranging the furniture for a whole different look. Perhaps the bed can be placed at an angle in the corner to have additional space. To make the bed look "no so big", buy some pretty decorative throw pillows to detract from the size.

If you can get a smaller bed and be comfortable in it that would be an immediate solution. Walking around in a small room is easier with a smaller bed. Then pay attention to your storage, Do you have good places to stash things like clothes and other accumulations you have? Keeping it light helps. Light helps it look bigger and light colored curtains or blinds, bedding, rugs and such.
