This website gives advice on how to prepare for the arrival of a new kitten:
http://cats.lovetoknow.com/Kitten_Care
and this:
http://cats.about.com/cs/kittencare/a/lessonone.htm
This website tells you what you need to get:
http://www.moggies.co.uk/catguide/html/needs.html
If I were you though, I'd be buying (numbers depend on how many cats!):
a large litter tray,
some cat litter (similar to what he's used to),
a steel water bowl,
two food bowls,
some dried or tinned food - or both (similar to what he's used to),
some fresh roast chicken (to bribe his affection & encourage him to eat in his new home - lol)
a blanket
a cat carrier
a cardboard box (initially for him to sleep in though he'll probably choose his own sleeping arrangements - though if you get the plastic sort of cat carrier or a wicker one, this could also be his bed)
a scratching post or activity centre (so that he'll hopefully not strop his claws on the furniture)
I'd have a supply of a suitable flea killer (just in case he comes infested so I could treat him immediately)
Toys - a ping pong ball, a furry little mouse & some sort of toy on a stick - one that I can swing around & he can leap for. Paper bags also make great toys.
You might also want to consider buying him a collar & possibly a harness if you plan to walk him on a leash/lead.
Finally, you might want to consider buying him an insurance policy so that you don't have to worry about vet bills.

They need food, water, a few toys litter ( scoop the poop everyday and do a complete change of litter about once a week) They need treats and thats about it. If you go to a pet store and tell them you just got some cats they will tell and show you everything you need. You need a vet too.
