I tore it almost a month ago and the pain just keeps increasing, the docs have been giving me percocet for it but it only works for about an hour or so, plus, being military they are kind of stingy with pain meds. What can I do to lessen the pain?

I was in your same position regarding the torn cuff 18 months ago. After percocet the doctor recommended surgery. It is the only thing that will help. Even if your doctor would move your pain meds to Diludid the tolerance would be built up soon enough that surgery would be indicated. A word of caution...it hurts like heck after the surgery too. But with physical therapy it goes away.

The best thing to do is to go back to the doctor and tell them! I don't think they are going to ignore you forever. Even if they have a thing for other pain meds where they don't like to give them, you can bother the doctor enough to make sure you get something that works.

Ouch!! Percocet does not work on me either. I try to use Tylenol 3 (w/codine) - unfortunately you need to get a RX. I KNOW how hard it is to work with Military Hospitals, but if you explain to the Dr, maybe he can try something else. Good Luck!!

You should definitely go back to the doctor and tell him of your pain. He might send you to physical therapy which may help with pain management. Since you are military, I guess smoking pot is out of the question. That always helps my boyfriend with his back pain.

I'm suprised your physician hasn't talked to you about surgery. I think the only way you're going to get any relief is by having surgery. Good luck.
