Ah I remember this old friend like it was yesterday.
Any of you mortals have a clue?

It was long ago, not so far away,
you may not believe what they say.

Man or myth, you decide,
If I committed fratricide.

My ancestors may have wandered from Troy,
I had a peculiar upbringing as a boy.

My father a rapist, but not a man,
by organising rape I expanded my clan.

I built a city upon a hill,
the choice of which lead me to kill.

I lost some battles, but won the war,
to develop my empire, I did this and more.

With these clues you should know my name,
to be lost to history would be shame.

Should you all fail.
A solution will be posted.

The answer is Romulus.

Some worthy efforts. I lower myself to explain to the plebeians.

The solution explained.

"It was long ago, not so far away,
you may not believe what they say."

Well it was 770 BC and Italy. Romulus may be a historic figure, or a myth.

"If I committed fratricide."

Fratricide of course being the murder of a brother. Remus.

"My ancestors may have wandered from Troy,"

The family tree of the Brothers is purported to include Aeneas, a Trojan hero.

"I had a peculiar upbringing as a boy."

Relates to the common interpretation of Romulus and Remus being feral and suckled by a she wolf.

"My father a rapist, but not a man,"

Mars was the God who raped their mother, thus producing the twins.

"by organising rape I expanded my clan."

To expand Rome, Romulus needed women, so he organised the capture and rape of 700 or so Sabine women.

"I built a city upon a hill,
the choice of which lead me to kill."

Well, he built Rome on Palatine hill. This sparked the argument with his brother Remus, that ultimately lead to bloodshed.

"I lost some battles, but won the war,
to develop my empire, I did this and more."

Romulus is credited, with never loosing a war, only a few battles. Conquest rapidly
built the proto-empire, but his achievements were not limited to military matters.

The very last lack of existence contained in the US befell in 1949 in Texas after 8 human beings decreased in length the ailment and one died. So...if she lived in Texas, and the years are somewhat off, i bypass with smallpox. Of word Texas became a state in what 1845.
