Why do some if not most conservatives belive global warming is not really happening? I dont understand how political/religious views contradict with proven scientific fact.

Because science leads to heresy, and if global warming was true, the Bible would talk about it and it doesn't.

Because we didn't believe that we were going into a new Ice Age. The same people who are warning us about global warming, were telling us about the comming Ice Age 20 years ago. Don't take my word for it. Check it out yourself. Find some old Time and News Week magazines.

And then there was Y2K. Do you remember that? All the computers were going to break down. It was going to be the end of the world.

When we first heard about AIDS in the early 1980s, the experts were telling us that by the year 2000, every other person on the face of the earth would have AIDS.

Why do you believe these people? They continue to lie to us, and yet, some people still believe them. There is always some new catastrophy coming, and we are supposed to believe them, and change our lives, and give up our freedom so that they can save us.

Look at terrorism. Why do you think that we have been attacked by terrorists? Do you think that maybe the fact that we are involved in the affairs of other nations where terrorists factions are the players might have something to do with it? And who benefits? Well, what did the terrorism accomplish? We got the Terrorism Bill (Republican), we got the PATRIOT Act, and now the new Terrorism Bill (Democrat). We are losing our freedom because we are allowing politicians to take them from us - to save us from terrorism, or global warming, or some other reason.

While you worry about the non-existant problem of global warming, you are losing your freedom. You should be more concerned by what are politicians are doing to us than any irrelivant "greenhouse gases."

Most conservatives do not deny that the Earth is warming up, but many believe that the reason is natural and not by man.

There are many things that affect the Earth's changing climate. The biggest is that the world has not finished warming up from the end of the last ice age, 10,000 years ago. Also, there have been many random climate changes in the past, such as the dryness of the Dust Bowl in America about 90-100 years ago.

There are too many variables to attempt to conclude what if any affect human impact has on the environment.

I think they possibly feal that it is happening, but that the problem is often presented as a rapid catastrophic one when it is not rapid but gradual. I think they also want to take time to figure out good ways of slowing and preventing, rather than getting on bandwagon good feelings type solutions that really may not help.

A good example of unwise solutions is reforestation. Forests are good. But they also hold heat more than grassy areas, thus making rapid reforestation of areas counterproductive. But planting lots of trees sounds good and feels good and makes people feel like they are doing something. Dumping iron filings into the ocean feels bad, but would make plancton reproduce rapidly, doing all the benfit of planting forests without the harm. The downside - nobody understands the ocean eco-system enough to know what side consequences their might be.

Well, go to the political forum and ask them....

FYI 100,000 years ago, it was an Ice Age... So our society is only around because of "global warming"... It was warm when the dinosaurs walked around, much of the Texas was an ocean, et cetera... So obviously it is colder than then, but not as cold as an ice age proving that the Earth warms and cools on it's own....

Global warming? I doubt it is happening due to human activity, but I hope it is. We could do with warmer winters and all the other benefits it could give us. So bring it on.

I doubt it because there are too many vested interests expecting to make a financial killing out of it, especially tax greedy governments. Hence the one way propaganda. it is all doom and gloom, any potential benfits are completely ignored.
Be suspicious, very suspicious.

I am sorry but Global Warmings claim to fame is a 1.4 degree increase in 100 years. That is THEIR number. Search for a global warming website and they usually have the same chart.

1.4 degrees??? Give me a break.

Global warming is a myth.
