Probably so, but depends on the religion. Pagans don't usually believe in hell. Atheism is also a religion, but atheists don't believe in either heaven or hell. Christianity certainly uses this method, and there are Bible verses to support a hell or else an eventual day of judgment in some form (see below).

even in the experience that they declare heritage from the Hebrew traditions maximum Christian ideas originated w/ the Greeks. God is depicted as a father deity w/ a lengthy white beard who sits on a throne on intense. that is stunning like Zeus on his throne on Mt. Olympus. Likewise hell mimics the underworld inhabited through the cthonic deity Hades. The Bible famous more desirable about the own and political agendas of it is priestly authors than it does about the the so said as actuality. The Bible is certainly no longer the note of God. If God extremely had to write down a e book Jesus ought to have achieved it Himself and there must be no questions about it. it ought to also be an noticeably diverse e book. authentic capacity lies interior the palms of those who write heritage and create the mythos upon which a society is depending. In Biblical cases this became the priesthood. They and the scribes they experienced were the only literate individuals of society. the top-rated thanks to save people (females, slaves and the different second type voters) of their position is to assert that God ordained it that way and then produce a e book to tutor it. no count number number how inspired the authors were or through what source, the preparation had to filter out by ability of their minds and personalities. The Bible became written through adult adult males immersed in an historic patriarchal way of life. all of them had agendas, even if it became protecting the social order, unifying doctrine, eliminating heresy or gaining converts. After reading it for years i have concluded that it is a quite clear piece of propaganda. What I do fee interior the Bible is the tale of Christ's life and teachings. i imagine He knew how misinterpreted and manipulated words can grow to be and hence lived in a fashion that ought to enable us save on with in His footsteps inspite of what anybody wrote about Him. The hyperlinks less than objectively ingredient the origins of the Bible (a million & 2) besides because the inconsistencies and inaccuracies (3)

Hold on sticks for dogs are bad? And I have never seen my dog (don't own anymore) find a liking towards carrots.
Bunnies + Carrots= Happy Rabbits
Dogs + Carrots = Do dogs eat lots of vegatables?

Yes, obviously God wants us to follow the rules and go to heaven. He created the world and the punishment / reward system so it is pretty obvious that he would say:
if you follow the rules = good things
if you don't follow the rules = bad things...
Pointing out the obvious isn't a negative or a positive, it is just obvious.

I'm a Christian, and I don't believe in the popular concept of "hell". Hell is the grave.
God doesn't want or need that kind of gory revenge. Hell is not a divine invention, it is purely human.
And shame on Eldad...someone ought to report you to the SPCA for donkey abuse!!

Except that they don't even have to exist.
It's like making a donkey do what you want its entire life, and not even giving it the damn carrot. Ever.

No. Being with God is the goal. Religion can be a means of attaining this goal when it teaches us to seek Him.
