I am a 25 year old professional working in advertising in El Salvador. I also have studies in filmaking, and my first documentary already won an award in a New York festival. I love my country but unfortunately I would like to work and know people that are doing the same things I'm doing. There is no career on film here and not much people to learn from. Therefore I would like to know if I could go as a professional to work and earn experience in Vancouver.

You can apply for Canadian citizenship as a skilled worker. Basically a lawyer will evaluate your points and let you know whether you qualify for such type of visa. If you have one year of work experience, I don't think you will have any problem applying there. Do check Canadian website for immigration and check for apply as skilled worker. Good luck!

Can't see why not, grab yourself a passport and come on down! Just so you know though things are a little pricey what with the 14% sales tax. And you may want to do some research online and maybe apply to jobs to line up interviews before you go. I believe minimum wage is around $8.00 but not sure. http://www.Monster.ca can get you on the right track if you are considering a career there.
Good Luck

To get a work permit, you need to have a company already making you a job offer and it must not be taking away a job from a local.

If you attend a university you can work on-campus without a work permit.

Contact the local Canadian Embassy for information.
